Natural Remedies For Acne

Everyone who struggles with acne knows how much of a pain it is. Nobody wants to have red splotches and pockets of pus on their face, especially if their skin is sensitive and/ or easily scarred. People who struggle with acne to whatever degree will often try to find extravagant ways to rid themselves of it but did you know that there are natural remedies to acne? Here are some naturopathic ways to treat acne.

A Gentle Skincare Routine
This means not to over wash your face and strip it of essential oils. To avoid this, use gentle, un-fragranced soaps and cleansers. If your acne is around your hairline, you may be sensitive to a hair product. Try to use gentle shampoos and products, and try to use as little of it as you can to see if the acne begins to clear up. If you suspect that a certain product is causing it, eliminate it from your routine and see what happens.

Exfoliate With Care
It is true that exfoliating is an important part of skin care routines as it helps to unclog pores and get rid of dead skin, however, over exfoliating can be bad for your skin. Choose gentle chemical exfoliates, not a physical one, to avoid micro-tears in the skin and over stripping of natural oils. A good way to know whether an exfoliator is gentle enough is by being able to pronounce every ingredient without struggle.

Try a Healing Mask
Find the time to do a mask 2-3 times a week. You can do them before bed as you wind down, as you do homework, watch a movie, or anything else! Look for masks that contain plain ingredients that you can pronounce and ingredients such as yogurt, cinnamon, aloe, honey, and essential oils.

Try Tea Tree Oil
Tea tree oil (also known as melaleuca) has antiseptic, antibacterial, antifungal, and anti-inflammatory properties. This makes it great at fighting acne if used properly. In it’s undiluted form; tea tree oil will dry out the sky if applied directly to skin. Try cutting it with water or jojoba oil and use as a spot treatment.

Try Thai Sweet Basil
Thai sweet basil has been known to be a good acne fighter. It comes in oil form, which can be added to a mask, oil, or moisturizer and applied to your face. When using new skincare, be sure to test things on a portion of your face first to make sure you don’t have a negative reaction.
