Finding the Right Form of Exercise for You

Achieving great physical health is a journey that will look different for each of us. Our physiological make-up varies from person-to-person and everyone’s daily life is unique (from the foods we eat to how we use our bodies), which means different stresses being placed on the body. Despite these distinctions, one thing that is foundational across the board is that we all need exercise. By staying physically active we can achieve the following benefits:

  • Improves mood;
  • Combats health conditions and diseases;
  • Controls weight;
  • Increases energy levels;
  • And promotes better sleep.

To ensure that you’re able to reap the above benefits, the rest of this post will discuss finding the right form of exercise for your life!

Does the Exercise Touch on Multiple Disciplines?

In North Aerica, it’s common to categorize workouts based on specific goals. For example, strength building, stretching, meditation, cardio etc. If you can incorporate these different goals into a single program, you’ll achieve highly effective workouts that are also time efficient.

Does Your Exercise Cater to Your Daily Life?

There are many factors that impact our current physical condition, such as age, career type, diet and more. Choosing a workout program that addresses the stresses placed on your body, will lead to you moving better and feeling better in daily life. For instance, for someone who suffers from arthritis, joint pain is a serious issue. An activity like swimming allows that individual to exercise their entire body without placing further stress on their joints. A different situation would be someone working as a mover. This person’s body is being exposed to entirely different stresses than the individual suffering from arthritis. With a job that requires lifting furniture and heavy boxes, exercising in a way that strengthens the body correctly, can allow the mover to perform their daily job with less strain and a reduced chance of injury.

Remember, exercise isn’t just about what’s popular right now, it’s about finding an outlet to stay in shape so you can live as long as you can, as well as you can!
